Postdoctoral Fellowship: Evidence Syntheses and Systematic Review Methodology
Project summary:
The Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre (MBMC, https://mbmc-cmcm.ca) houses the META Evidence Synthesis group. The META group works with government agencies (e.g., the Public Health Agency of Canada), national associations (e.g., the Canadian Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation), and the SPOR Evidence Alliance to provide a variety of evidence synthesis products, e.g., systematic reviews, rapid reviews, and living reviews. In addition, the members of the META group are also focused on developing and testing new methodologies, especially around rapid and living reviews, to improve the quality of evidence syntheses.
Position summary:
The individual who is selected for this position will be expected to lead a program of research focused on developing new methodologies to improve the efficiency of rapid and living reviews, in collaboration with Dr. Simon Bacon (co-Director of the MBMC: https://mbmc-cmcm.ca/member/simon-bacon/). This will be done by contributing and leveraging the systematic reviews, rapid reviews, living reviews, and meta-analyses that are conducted by the META group.
The fellow will be able to work on a variety of research-related aspects including:
- Systematic reviews, rapid evidence syntheses, meta-analyses and reporting methodologies
- Assessment of implementation strategies
- Development and dissemination of guideline tools
- Participating in end-user engagement activities
The chosen candidate will also collaborate with other pertinent projects within the MBMC.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in a related applied clinical discipline (e.g., Epidemiology, Public Health, Kinesiology, Nursing, Nutrition, Psychology, Medicine)
- Demonstrated experience conducting research in at least one of the following areas:
- Systematic reviews/meta-analyses
- Rapid evidence syntheses
- Living review syntheses
- Implementation science
- Guideline development
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated research productivity (peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations)
- Ability to work autonomously and take a lead role on projects under supervision of principal investigators
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Experience with statistical methods and ability to work with analytic software
- Experience using integrated end-user engagement strategies
- Experience with student mentoring and supervision
- Openness to learn new methods and techniques in an applied clinical setting
- Ability to communicate (orally) in both English and French
Start date, Duration, Stipend, and Location
The start date is immediate but flexible; funding has already been received.
The position is full time for at least one year and is renewable. Of note, most postdoctoral fellows at the MBMC complete 2-4 years. The funding package consists of a stipend (consistent with FRQS funding levels) plus conference / training funding.
