Position: Research Assistant

Full-time position — One-year contract with possibility of renewal

Immediate supervisors: Dr. Simon Bacon and Dr. Kim Lavoie, Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre (MBMC)

Workplace: Home-based during pandemic, but otherwise CIUSSS-NIM (Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal)

Salary: In accordance with experience

Starting date: As soon as possible


The Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre (MBMC) is an academic research and training centre focused on behavioural medicine, clinical trials, epidemiology, and psychophysiology.

The MBMC is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant (RA) to assist its team in the coordination and delivery of a variety of projects and research activities.

Projects include: the study of behaviours tied to COVID-19; motivational communication training in clinical settings; partnerships with patient-investigators; e-health platforms to health behaviour change; and research about vaping and smoking.

The RA will also be asked to support conference planning activities and help coordinate meetings with national and international collaborators and partners. The RA’s responsibilities may also include research ethics submissions and assisting in the development and maintenance of MBMC project databases.

The candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Dynamism and autonomy / ability to take initiative
  • Versatility and ability to work in a team
  • Attention to detail

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma (BA / BSc or above) in a relevant field
  • Previous experience in conducting a research study
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both French and English
  • Ability to use Word and Excel

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with LimeSurvey & RedCap
