In March 2018, results of the work of MBMC co-directors Drs. Simon Bacon and Kim Lavoie were published following their collaboration on a project that explored factors that could affect the engagement of patients with COPD and asthma patient in the research process (learn more in the article “Patients as research partners“).

In November 2018, results of other work, led alongside several MBMC collaborators, were published in the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention. The findings of this study suggest that understanding the “health locus of control” beliefs of cardiac patients could be clinically relevant in rehabilitation programs whose goals are aimed at behaviour change (learn more in the article “Health Locus of Control Is Associated With Physical Activity and Other Health Behaviors in Cardiac Patients“).

Most recently, MBMC doctoral student Claudia Gemme attended the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research Summit 2018 and produced a report for the International Behavioural Trials Network highlighting the importance of conducting groundbreaking projects with multidisciplinary teams working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
