Though they understand the Quebec government’s desire to reopen parts of the province, public health experts warned Wednesday that loosening COVID-19 restrictions will come with significant risks. Kim Lavoie, a Canada research chair in behavioural medicine at the Université du Québec à Montréal, questioned what factors the province is basing its decision on. Lavoie urged the government to be more transparent about the benchmarks guiding its decision-making, saying that could go a long way in convincing people to respect the measures.
